Trials Frontier
Platform: Android, iOS
Genre: Racing
Release Date: April 10, 2014
Developer: RedLynx
Publisher: Ubisoft
Synopsis
Explore a massI've world of adventure on your motorcycle. Ride your bike on unfairly addictI've tracks while you perform slick wheelies, crazy jumps, and flips mid-air! Battle players from around the world and dominate global leaderboards on every track! Race, explore, upgrade, and compete. Accept no substitutes! Built from the ground up for touch-based controls, Trials Frontier combines the amazing, physics-based gameplay of Trials with the wild, wicked western frontier.
Gameplay
Similar to the other Trials games we've played on our consoles, Frontier is based on you controlling a biker who is fully customization and you will need to race through obstacles and compete against the time limit. You will start out with a slow bike that you can upgrade by completing stages and spinning the wheel for parts allowing you to upgrade the stats of the bike letting you complete levels faster getting the gold medal. You can also unlock new bikes but you will have to unlock each blueprint that you can find at the end of levels on the wheel you spin. There are over 250+ stages where you need to use strategy and quick thinking skills so you can earn that gold medal at the end. If you happen to crash on a level or get yourself in a pickle you are allowed to reset to your nearest checkpoint or reset the whole level but while have to use a gas can. At the start of the game you will have 20/20 total gas cans and every stage you will have to pay 5 gas cans allowing you to play the stage. To unlock more cans you will have to wait for it to refill. Leveling up will increase the total of cans and also gI've you money where you can upgrade bikes or buy uniforms. There is also online where you can compete against other players in levels seeing who can dominate the time limit on levels the best. If you are also online you can compete against your ghost or other players ghosts trying to beat their time. There are also campaign missions where you are required to compete against an AI but its usually impossible to beat them on the first try so you'll have to suck it up and come back to them with a bigger and better bike later on.
Graphics
In my opinion this game is no where near graphics wise to the other Trials I've played. This Game seems cartoonish but I actually like how it looks. Everything is 3D and has a unique look to every object you see. This games graphics kind of remind me of Borderlands in a way. Your character is fully customization allowing you to see all the aspects and textures they've put into each piece of gear. There is also many pressure points and environment effects in certain levels where rocks or objects fall that become very noticeable for its graphics. Each checkpoint you go past will explode in coins and follow you until it reaches the top of your screen where your total coins is at. Now the background effects in this game are a notable thing in this game, everything you see in the background is in 3D really making the mood of visuals of the game feel great. During my playthrough of the game I didn't notice minor visual glitches and frame rate lag even though I play on a Samsung S6 but its nothing that will ruin the game.
Controls
The controls in Trials Frontier can be weird and confusing but are the easiest to get use to. You will have a total of 4 buttons to push throughout the whole game. 2 buttons on each side of the screen where 2 will be for the tilt and balance of your bike when hitting a ramp or just flying through the air and the other 2 for the gas and brake for your bike. You will have to consistently push each button but there is no difficulty in doing so. There are no control settings found in the menu but there is of course a small tutorial on how to control your bike and how to play the game on the first level of the game.

I can see myself playing this for hours while at work lol, looks like a decent Game for iPhone. Love the background 3d effects as you also mentioned, really makes the overall experience even more enjoyable. Playing with other people battling it out to get on the leaderboards really does sound challenging, and aload of fun. Ill give this game review a 9/10. Thanks for your efforts Tom.

Great review man. I was hesitant at first with the graphics and all but you make it out to be a pretty damn good game.

Good graphics and gameplay. Bike upgrades are slow to progress, but it has regular special events which give extra rewards, and the bunker head to head matches have kept my interest, great review matey.
