I'll let you know when I'm back at home. My ISP is Virgin Media and it's the fastest for the area (checked with others before). I'll tell you the down and up speeds when I'm home as I was upgraded a month back. This did substantially make it have better speed.

I'm talking about wireless connection only. Bare this in mind. Wired has amazing speeds.

Speeds don't matter much, nor does ISP most routers are compatible with pass-through nowadays. He should be fine just get some separate colored ethernet cables it makes it more tidy, and easy to remember what goes to what.

Well yes even that. (sorry about IM got confused as to which AP you mean). But yeh all I need is an Access point that will increase my internet range to eliminate the dark spots and make those 2 rooms have WiFi access.

The reason for this is that I sleep in one of the rooms and my little brother in the other. The guest room (I live alone and he's visiting) has perfect connection so I have to go there sometimes, even though it's a box room ffs.

I'm not talking about wired, it's about wireless connectivity towards mobile devices. All my wired devices run smoothly. Wired wise I know my down and up speeds and they are perfectly good.

In circumstances, speed does matter. It depends if the suggest AP's come in multiple versions like [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] .

You wouldn't want to pay for a AP that can handle up to 600Mbps if your bandwidth isn't even 150Mbps, never mind throughput. Would be more feasible to purchase the 300Mbps one.

It is wifi you will never reach full potential on a good laptop let alone a phone, a 300mbps would be fine on any device and speed even a 100+ would be now if we were going gigabit, and or business packages 1000/500 would be useful for ethernet only. Your WAP would be beneficial still getting new cables to know what goes where. POE AP is the way to go if you want a good consistent speed.

OP: Your budget is a tad low for something of a good grade considering decent products are $80-100 or EU.

I dont understand as to why youve posted explaining about gigabit and Ethernet connection. I was just trying to explain the fact that his speed COULD matter as to which AP he purchases, depending on the circumstances. He may not have knowledge in networking and may think buying a gigabit AP will do him a world of good over a 300Mbps AP.

Ehhh £50 works out around $65, idk but it seems reasonable to me!
