I recently purchased MSI Radeon RX 580 ARMOR OC 8GB to replace my old Colorful GeForce GT 520 and new PSU. After replacing the GPU the computer boots (the fans start working on both the CPU and new GPU), but there are no BEEPs, and no DISPLAY whatsoever. It just hangs on black screen.
If I insert my old graphic card, or use the integrated graphics everything works fine. The system boots normally.
The problem is only with the new GPU.
My mobo have a PCI-E 2gen and a new GPU uses 3gen, but I heard that it shouldn't be a problem.
My setup
Steps I've taken:
My last ideas are:

My setup
- CPU: i7-2600
Motherboard: MSI H61M-P21 (B3)
RAM: 2x8GB Corsair ValueSelect Series DDR3-1333 - CL9
Video: MSI Radeon RX 580 ARMOR OC 8GB
Power Supply: Antec VP-PC 500W (new, bought with the card)
Hard drive(s): OCZ SSD
Operating System: Windows 8.1
Steps I've taken:
- 1. It requires the 8pin connector (8pin), I attached PCI-E 6+2 connector from PSU to it.
2. I updated to the latest BIOS (from 2013 ;) [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . )
3. After playing a little bit with BIOS setting (set to start with Integrated Graphics, and enabled "multi monitor" option) I was able to boot to Windows with my new GPU attached. But I cannot see it in device manager. I tried to install drivers for Radeon.
4. I uninstalled old drivers, tried to disable/uninstall integrated drivers.
My last ideas are:
- 1. GPU broken
2. Motherboard <> GPU incomatibility

try reseating each slot. PCI gen 3 runs on gen 2 just fine, with minor performance difference. I highly doubt it is a dead card or motherboard/gpu incompatibility

thanks for the reply. I only have one PCI x16 slot and already tried reseating it couple of times. Actually I spent approx 6hr playing with different configurations (cables x bios settings x GPUs). My new GPU keeps being invisible. ;)

This might sound redundant, but I've made really stupid mistakes like this before; check to make sure everything is plugged in properly, especially that 6+2 power plug, the cord from my PSU it can be a bitch to plug in properly. It could also be possibly you got a dead card. Maybe try keeping the GPU plugged in and everything, but hook the video cable up to your motherboard to use the iGPU on the CPU and see if it will even register that you have a GPU plugged in. I know with my 380 it registered that it is a part of the system in the Radeon Settings program even when I'm just using the iGPU.

CODLTHAT1OR3O thank you for your input.
I tried one more time today.
1. I inserted my new GPU.
2. I attached my integrated GPU using VGA cable.
3. I setup BIOS to use integrated GPU as primary.
4. Launched the Windows (it started fine on integrated).
The fans are working on new GPU.
And here are some screenshots:
- Device Manager: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] or [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
- GPU-Z: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Looks like there is some drivers conflict, or some other problem... I have no idea. Any thoughts?
I tried installing the Radeon drivers but it says I already have them ???

May I ask which cable you are using? As if it's HDMI, I advise using a DVI or VGA.

I managed to fix the issue. ))
What I did:
1. If you look at my previous posts you can see that I got to the point where my GPU wasnt recognized by OS.
2. I downloaded DDU (a 3rd party drivers uninstaller), booted into Safe Mode and removed all of the drivers that I could.
3. Booted normally into Windows and ran AMD RADEON driver installer. It kept saying that my drivers are already installed (?!?).
4. I have Windows 8.1 x64 installed, so I ran the installer again with Windows 7 compatibility mode (as the installer was for Win7, the AMD only has Win7 and Win10 versions).
Then the drivers started to install normally. I got some "1603 general error" at the end (see: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ) but since then the card works and is recognized!
I'll try now to reinstall the whole system, and upgrade my Windows and hope there will be no problems whatsoever.
Thanks for help everyone!
