This is a decision that you will have to make and not us. Use both and see what you like more.

Research is key, find some good sources about your use case and yeah.

It all depends on what you are going to do on it and the amount you have to spend on one.

If your not gaming, and your just using it as a day to day laptop, The mac would be a good choice. It also depends on what all your doing on the computer though, the only input you gave us was that your not gaming.

This depends entirely on what you are looking for, as well as your budget. If you have other Apple devices, you may prefer sticking to the Apple ecosystem since everything works well together. I use a MacBook Pro for my laptop, and my desktop PC I built running Windows. I find MacOS is more useful for a "mobile" environment.

I have a MacBook Air and the battery life is amazing, so light and handy to carry with you, I bought it for college as I wanted a small laptop easy to take wth me on the go that was powerful enough to rub Autocad etc, I really like my mac but I do still think the windows OS is better and easier worked with, maybe look into a surface pro or something

Mac's are pretty expensive for the specs you are getting, in my opinion.

Also it goes down to your preferences. e.g, what interface you prefer and what exclusives they both have. Another main factor is the price your willing to pay.

I got a Macbook Air for college and I love it. I dont really use it for gaming, but everything else it works amazing. SO light and the battery life is amazing. The OS is perfect too, it just flow so nicely.

You could actually have both.
There are dedicated websites that exist for what is called "Hackintosh".
This is a custom made PC with fully compatible parts that allows you to install OSX without problems.

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ] is a good source for this. They have parts lists and install guides that will walk you through everything you need. (There is a legal way to do it, and a less legal way)

Now, if you want a laptop I would go with a Macbook and dual boot windows. I only suggest this, because getting OSX to run on a laptop is a shit storm.

If you would rather just get one system over the other, you have to look at what you want to do with the PC. If you want something that you will play games on, then you want a PC. If you want to develop iOS and Mac apps, then you are stuck with Mac.
I only suggest a hackintosh/Macbook, because it is harder to get OSX running on a windows PC than it is to get windows running on a Mac
