can you still afford to go to college?

I personally couldn't afford to go to college, nearby that had the degree that I'm pursuing, It's forcing my parents to work overtime and taking time away from my other siblings I feel bad for them and I do my best to work, recently getting a higher paying job and everything. I wanted to get into this program, and I'm applying for as many scholarships as I can to help them, we aren't rich, but we make just enough to not receive any financial aid.

EDIT: also all the computer engineering scholarships offered from my school actually say that they prioritize women and minorities.

a lot of people applying for scholarships still need financial aid, that could be why you're "over qualified."
Also, colleges need diversity, plus a woman or minority is less likely to be able to afford college.

Now is college scholarships the only complaint you have about being a white male? If so point me to a race switcher machine.

I also don't like getting threats when I get on public transportation or walking downtown.
I don't like it either but you know what I do? Get over it and move on. If I stopped to make a thread every time I've been discriminated against I'd be the top poster.
Life's not fair in many ways, count your blessings and move on.

This is the first and only thread I've made about this.

Are you trying to say that white people can't be the recipients of racism?

'Playing the race card and you're white'
To
'They probably had other reasons too'

It would take some of the best mental gymnastics ever displayed to make them mean the same thing.
It wasn't even a half decent attempt at a dodge.

Yes, because white male = easy life.

White people can be the victims of racism and just because he isn't saying explicitly here that black people have it worse doesn't mean he doesn't believe that.
There is white racism and there is black racism, talking specifically about one of those doesn't mean you think the other doesn't exist or that you have it worse than everyone else.

I agree with this in not trying to argue who has it worse I'm just ranting about something that bothered me...

I feel you.

Although I have never really felt discrimination to the extent that a woman or person of a minority has felt, it does hurt my feelings that my campus has had protests against white men.

Also feels weird when I am walking through my campus student center and someone hands me a pamphlet saying "The United States is falling because of the white man! Fight back now!"

Fight back? Makes me feel like I am the enemy of people.

My close friend was denied a computer science internship because they were only accepting women. They have to meet their quota of not being sexist and racist by hiring minorities and women.

It is what it is I guess. Being a white male, I can not quite fully understand my white privilege.

Perhaps this will make you laugh, as it did for me! Most of the stuff he addresses is completely real, but he does it satirically and sarcastically.
