TaigaAisaka wrote I don't think waiting on GPU prices to drop is a good idea, unless he waits for Vega to come out as I don't expect GPU prices to drop for months; despite Nvidia and AMD starting to release mining cards. Ethereum did have a $40 crash I believe yesterday (July, 27th) but it shot right back to where it was in less than 24 hours. We just need the Cryptocurrency bubble to burst, but until then, waiting on GPU prices to go down is going to be a headache unless he's extremely patient with it. I've been seeing RX 580's easily go for $600, $700 and for some reason over on Reddit, people were linking 1070's going for 1k+. Hell even RAM prices are starting to rise much higher than they already were due to the shortage since everyone wanting to move to DDR4. Now we need to pair in the fact that miners are becoming a problem and Apple is becoming a huge problem now too because they're buying up a lot of DRAM/NAND Chips for their iPhone 8, when the NAND demand is already crucially high right now. SSDs are going to be getting hit next too.

SSDs have already been hit pretty hard. About 9 months ago you could get a 500GB 850 EVO for $100, now they're up to $170. Now really is the worst time to be buying a PC IMO, especially a mid ranged system.

I think by next month, maybe 6 weeks, GPU prices should start to normalise a bit. I do think it will take a little while for them to get back down to where they were before the rise in mining, but they should start getting better soon.

OP- Yeah, the system is £500 with the &163;100 for GPU. Don't buy from eBay unless you find a good card for a good price there. GPUs are usually more on eBay than youd pay elsewhere for a used card. Maybe even check CeX, they have some pretty good prices on GPUs sometimes.

Okay but what card do you reccomend me looking out for? the gtx 770 or a different one and say if i didnt have the monitor in the build what you be able to sum one up just excluding the monitor for me please

Link the ones you are finding on eBay. We can search eBay for GPUs all we want, but that doesn't help as we don't know exactly what you've been looking at. MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte, ect are name brands for the GPU.

I don't even remember what exactly is going for the 770, but I would say ASUS or EVGA if you can find them. If you're going for the 960, ASUS STRIX, MSI Twin Frozr and the EVGA ACX 2.0 (I hate ACX cards but this one you can have an easier time of getting the 1.5 GHz boost clock if your card is in the lucky batch and can hit that high stable.)

If you're looking at the R9 280/R9 280x, Gigabyte Windforce is what I would recommend. I absolutely loved those cards in Crossfire when I had them.
