From the image you drew and the fact you mentioned 4 pins; are you trying to connect to the Jumper Pins on your HDD? I almost wanted to ask if you were trying to connect through Molex, but you mentioned 4 pins and the image of them being in a square makes me believe you have tried to connect the Jumper Pins.
Posting a picture of the cable you're trying to connect and maybe even the HDD (since you said the one Adam linked doesn't look like yours) would be a huge help.
