For the older CODs (COD4, WAW & MW2) do you need to rank up or are all of the weapons, perks etc already unlocked?

If they are not unlocked what's the easiest way of getting them?

All I can remember is that MW2 split screen requires you to unlock everything. Only reason I remember is that we used to mod our stats with Modio. I am not sure if it is the same with the other ones you have listed.
