It depends what you see yourself as if you say you are from Northern Ireland then you should know how divided the whole of the UK is yes we are still apart of the UK but yet a lot of people in Scotland still identify themselves as Scottish (Which is there right in my opinion) its kinda like that Andy Murray thing..

He doesn't win Wimbledon he's Scottish
He does win Wimbledon he's British

But people outside of the UK would generally just call you British tho which is the annoying part of it.
