Professor Sergio Canavero, chief of the Turin Advanced Neuromodulation Group, said the operation was carried out by a team led by Dr. Xiaoping Ren, who last year successfully grafted a head onto a monkey's body.

They did the monkey head transplant last year.
They were just saying that both that operation and this one were performed by the same doctor.

This was just two cadavers though. They were ensuring that the vascular and nervous systems could actually link up.
They say that the next step is to try it with a brain dead person.
