Gold is definitely something worth getting, even though I've never had to pay it (thanks to everyone who gifted me).

You get a cool colored name, a badge along with it and access to a top secret area. Participate in some gold giveaways and see if you're lucky enough to win one.

Gold IMO is one of the strong points on TTG couldn't imagine not having it.
