I bought a Aoc g2460pf 144hz monitor. I plugged in the dvi - d cable and i go to click on 144hz in the display adapter properties and it just makes my screen all green with horizontal line going through it.
It will only work on 60hz. Please help

Well, the first problem is the DVI-D cable. Single Link DVI-D won't support 1080p @ 144Hz if that's what you have. The green line could simply just be the DVI-D Cable if it's a Single Link, but if it's a Dual Link, then the cable could be shitting out.
When you tried this, was the 60Hz/green line on games or only on the desktop? What GPU are you using right now? I would definitely opt for a HDMI 2.0 or a DisplayPort 1.3 cable and call it a day. That way they can support 4k 60Hz if you ever go that route, which will be plenty for 1080p 144Hz
