The children's ages went from 2 years old to 29. Imagine being 29 and having your parents shackle you to your bed and barely feed you. I'm sure there was some mental manipulation for the 29 year old, to stay in such a sick and twisted environment for so long probably suggests that he was taught that the environment he lived in was an acceptable one. That's just my thought on that matter.

Take a look people. This is the disgusting world we bring our children into..

I assume that you are talking about Millennials. If that is the case then did you even read the post. If you are not referring to Millennials, then I do not understand what point you are trying to make. Most older people are not as crazy as younger people, so please explain what point you were trying to make.

When I first read the title, I thought and still do think this is terrible. Then I noticed that this happened in California, and it all made sense. California is a crazy state with a ton of stupid people. It would make a lot of peoples life's much easier if the state of California would just sink.

As for how the couple would benefit from this, I really don't know. Someone said that they could use the kids for assistance money, and that is a possibility. I think they probably claimed them on taxes, but even then, some of the kids were too old to be claimed for taxes. And even if they did get a tax deduction, raising the kids is going to cost much more than that deduction.

As stated earlier, I think they are just crazy people. There is not any good reason(s) that I can think as to why these people did what they did.

I think this could be one of those extremely rare occurrences where two diagnosable psychopaths meet each other.

There are reports stating that the parents only fed the children once a day and were only allowed to shower once... A YEAR. The children were initially tied up with ropes as punishment, at least one had been "hogtied"; after the children learned to escape, punishment escalated to use of chains and padlocks. Punishment would last for weeks, sometimes for months. When the children were shackled, they were not allowed bathroom breaks. Punishment could be for infractions such as washing hands beyond wrists; conduct was termed as 'playing in the water'. Children were restricted to showering once a year. Other punishments include beatings, strangulation. When children were not shackled, they were often locked in their rooms. They have little knowledge of the outside world; they did not know what a police officer was, didn't know what medicine is. Have never seen a dentist.

Children are severely malnourished; one child who is twelve weighs as much as a normal 7-year-old. The 29-year old weighs 82 pounds. Children have varying degrees of cognitive impairment, nerve damage from being restrained for long periods of time. Parents bought themselves food such as pies; children were allowed to look at that food, but not eat it. Children not allowed to play with toys; any toys in the house were still in their packages. Parents also imposed odd schedule; family would stay up until 4 or 5 AM, slept all day. 2 of the children had been planning to escape for the past 2 years, 1 backed out at the last minute due to fear while other got out through a window.

What kind of sick demented bullshit is that? I'm sorry but there's no other way to state it. If you're not mentally able (and know it) to take care of children, do NOT bring them into the world; not because of the social situation, not because of not being able to maintain them, do not bring them into the world because you are not MENTALLY prepared to handle children.

When did they notice they couldn't handle children? After their 5th one? Is that when these sick people decided to lock them in their rooms with shackles, chains and ropes? The children haven't even seen a damn doctor in their whole lives, for ****'s sake. Just thinking about it gives me a headache. And now, these children will never lead normal lives because two idiots decided to have a family they couldn't handle.

Also, if the kids were adopted, the point still stands. Do not take in children to your home when you won't be able to mentally handle them. **** these people.

Were the children all theirs biologically? I mean it doesn't matter it's still messed up either way but it just baffles me how someone could do something like that to another human being, especially your own flesh and blood
