Hi All,

I put a machine together on pcpartpicker, and I checked the motherboard and it t said that graphics were onboard. The Machine is to be a Linux file server, so I don't need or want a graphics card. Now, once I've built it, there's no video signal. So, I'm going to post the build, and I hope someone can see what I've missed.

NOTE: all the stuff came from Newegg.ca, so it's easy to find details if needed.

1x ASRock AB350 Pro4 AM4 AMD Promontory B350 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

Alright, make sure all cables are plugged in correctly. Make sure RAM is seated properly and what not.

Does the system turn on, fans spinning etc, just no display?

Sorry for the delay, busy day. Yes, the power systems seem fine. The lights come on, the USB key I'm trying to boot from lights up, the CPU fan is spinning. The teeth of the RAM aren't exposed, and that's uniform, so I'm 99% certain the chip is seated correctly.

I just noticed something. The single ram chip I got is actually dual rank not single. This is my first build with DDR4. Will having only one dual rank chip cause this? Will I have to get another one?

No, you don't need more RAM.

Try a different display cable and/or monitor if you can.

Ok, I have tried both the VGA and the HDMI cable, both of which work on other machines. The monitor works with all 4 other computers and my PS4, so those aren't the problem. If you look at the specs of the MB, should it be able to have video on its own, or does it need something else?

The motherboard definitely isn't the issue, it 100% works with APU's. The only thing I can really think of with the information I have, is that the APU is faulty somehow. If it was completely DOA though, the system wouldn't power on at all. So potentially something to do with the iGPU is broken, but I've literally never seen/heard anything like that, and a broken CPU/APU is quite the rarity.

Honestly, I'd just contact AMD and see if you can arrange an RMA for the APU.
