The game follows a rag-tag band of tech-savvy young students who discover the means of changing the past via e-mail using a modified microwave. Their experiments in pushing the boundaries of time begin to spiral out of control as they become entangled in a conspiracy surrounding SERN, the organization behind the Large Hadron Collider, and John Titor, who claims to be from a dystopian future.

Steins;Gate Elite is an upcoming visual novel game that is an updated version of the original which was released back in 2009. In comparison to the original, Elite will become fully animated and will make use of many scenes from the original anime series as well as newly produced original content not present in the series or the original game. If you are unfamiliar with the visual novel genre, a tl;dr explanation is that it is an interactive story where players follow an onscreen narration and will occasionally be presented with choices, thus furthering the story. Every choice the player makes can change the direction the story will go in, resulting in branched storylines. Because of this it gives the game a whole added level of re-playability where the player can take different routes to reach different endings.

Originally revealed back in 2017 for a 2018 release in Japan with no mention that the remaster would ever make an appearance. Fortunately it was earlier announced by Spike Chunsoft's new American division, the publisher for the game, that it would be making its way to North America and Europe, but as with other upcoming releases, the PlayStation Vita version will be remaining in Japan. With the new knowledge that Spike Chunsoft has formed a new American division, it seems likely that even more future game releases will be making its way over from Japan to North America and Europe which is nothing but good news.
