Hi everyone,
I've recently had by braces taken off finally... I have had my retainer now about a week now and only getting used to it lol.
I need some tips on 'how to use'. I know it's meant to be in 24/7 for the first 3 months I have been told.
How do I keep it clean?
Can I really only drink water with them in or can I drink fizzy drinks? FYI, I don't drink fizzy drinks all the time...
Any other tips would be awesome

No you do not have to have it in 24/7, I didn't. Honestly I barely had it most of the time. Only during some of the day and all of the night. Everything turned out fine for me. But your case might be different, depending on the severity of your teeth.
But you can clean it just like how you clean your own teeth. Use toothpaste scrub it down and then wash it off with water. Nothing to serious.
I hated using a retainer, I slurred all my words and then when I finally got it taken off it felt like I had to learn how to speak again. Lol.
Since its only 3 months, that's not bad. Had mine for like a year or more.

Every time I mention this idea I get the weirdest looks. But I had Invisalign so I always did this.
Take a toothbrush and leave in the shower with some toothpaste. Clean it while you're in the shower so you don't make a big ass mess everywhere.

My girlfriend only wears her retainer when she goes to sleep then takes it off in the morning when she wakes up.
DON'T drink anything hot when having your retainer in because it can melt it, it's only plastic.

Because you just got it, yes keep it in as much as you can now. In a few months, you'll get to the point where you still need it but not as much, so you'll just wear it when you go to bed. Then you'll be able to just wear it a few days out of the month just to keep your teeth from shifting and the retainer not fitting properly.
