I need some opinions as in pistols or rifles to try tomorrow at the range.
Also what is a great pistol that is lightweight, 9mm round and may be considered for conceal carry/home defense
I know this may sound odd on this website but i know their are some military, hunters and gun specialist on here.

One of my favorites for EDC and home defense is the M&P 9 M2.0, it's well suited for concealed carry; customizable trigger reach, has relatively low recoil and little muzzle rise. The Glock 19 is also pretty popular, but I'm not exactly a big fan of the Glock. As for range time, really just depends on what you're looking for; as per stated above the AR-15 is a popular choice, and I'm used to a pretty similar platform having served. My issues with it is the placement of the charging handle, especially when compared to other platforms such as the Scar and ACR.

If you've never owned a gun, and want it strictly for CC or just to feel safe at home, go with a revolver instead of a semi-auto pistol. It's just easier to get used to, and it will feel more comfortable, if this is your first.
As for semi-auto pistols, I don't know what to really tell you hear. Only ever used rifles, and very, very few pistols that were not revolvers, that I couldn't even tell you the name of.

I have a Springfield XD9 and it is the perfect size for CC. Any rifle is fun to shoot at the range. But of course, the bigger the caliber, the more fun and expensive it is to shoot.

My favorite handgun would have to be my Tourus 9mm Gen 2. I have as some would say "bass player" hands, and the Gen 2 seems to have a bigger grip that's easier to hold.
