Okay so I bought an elite controller which ended up breaking (LB was constantly activated despite remapping buttons still no fix) so I bought another white standard controller. Now I was thinking since it's 2 separate boards I could technically replace the broken controllers board with the working one. Now all I want to know is if this would work or not?

In theory it should work, not from just experience that I'm talking but just modifying the controller in general.
It may be just a temporary fix due to the fact that you may not replace it to perfection and wire it back up correctly.
Even then you are wasting a controllers mapping board and disposing of it to fix another which is already not working so you may lose out on both controllers in the long run.
Truthfully man, I'd hold onto the controller, see if you can find some broken controller for sale and use a cheaper board rather then taking a bigger loss on new controllers for their boards. If not just use the one that's working. Hope this advice helps shine some light

Just buy an elite controller of ebay one that's broken for parts or something.

I've Repaired couple Xbox on elite controllers and no wouldn't work, it's connected using a flex cable which normal Xbox one controllers don't have the input for.
