Last night I bought my first propane grill. Im super excited about it. But I've never once used propane. Imma go thru the manual but I just want real advice also.

I saw somewhere in the book to let the grill warm up.. said wait 10-15 minutes depending on weather. Don't you usually wait 10-15 for charcoal? I'm not upset by any means but I def thought a good thing about propane is you don't have to wait.

The grill I got is massive.. overkill for my first grill but....... Bigger is better right ;) it has 5 burners and then one weird one for searing and then the burner on the side for a pot. If I'm just cooking up 2-3 burgers for me and the wife do I turn all burners on to heat it up? Or only like 1-2 burners on one side where the meat will be? Or in the middle maybe..

Congratulations! It sounds like one bad ass grill. What are some of the first things you plan on cooking?

I'll grab some photos right now! I am going to make some burgers with cheese and bacon pressed into them first.

Do I need to use all burners? Or just one or two for small sessions like this

You can use all burners if you want but if your going to cook on one side just light one side up

I love grilling burgers and steak on my grill

Congratulations on joining the "Propane Posse" I myself am I avid griller (propane is my specialty).

would love to see some photos of your new rig and setup.

I personally let my grill warm up for 10-15 minutes before applying meat just something I have always done I guess to give it time to burn off any debris from previous grills and get it nice and hot.
You don't need to use all burners when your cooking just 1 or 2 should be fine if you are just making a couple burgers for you and the ol lady. You could always turn 2 burners on and place the burgers a bit to the side of the hot burners for a different style of cooking (may take a bit longer but definitely gives the meat a whole different flavor all though cook time is extended).

Make sure when you're cleaning the ol girl after you're done grilling you don't use a wire brush as pieces of the brush have been known to break off and can get caught in your meat which is no good.

Glad to see there are others kicking around the site that take grilling serious.

Won't lie man, propane grilling is fire

Cheesy jokes aside, a few tips for advice. Personally, I do let the grill warm up. Mines got a temperature gauge on the hood as I'm sure yours does as well, and I prefer to let it get up to at least 350 F before I start throwing meat on. It's not really about the grill itself warming up, but having the temperature at a consistent usually produces a better product in my opinion.

In terms of burners, I usually go full throttle and turn on every single burner just to have evenly dispersed heat throughout the grill; once again for the purpose of a better finished product. The side burners / searers I wouldn't worry about unless you want to cook something small on the side on the grill.

In terms of the whole waiting thing again, it's also not a bad idea to leave the lid open for a few minutes after you light the grill, solely to make sure there's no "gas taste" to your food if you're planning on throwing on meat right away. Best of luck with grilling man, welcome to the club!

The burgers turned out great! I let it run on highest settings for 15ish minutes to burn any oil or grease from the manufacturer then lowered the temp a bit and thru them on. It is so easy with propane haha.. I've always used charcoal and sometimes I wouldn't have enough coal and even sometimes had to throw the meal out due to the temp dieing down and unable to cook the meat. Withthisit was consistent and their was no problems!

Super happy with my purchase. Thanks for all the feedback
