Based on what you described, I would go with the S3. The VW might be too small for your needs and desires, and as a guy who doesn't care about German cars, I'll tell you how I look at these two cars. The VW is the high reckless high school kid whereas the S3 is the slightly more mature mid 20's guy working a office job and needs some excitement in his life.
I don't mean any of that in a bad way, it's just what I see when I look at the style of car. Just like when someone says "civic", anyone in the car community thinks ricer.
If it were me buying the car, It depends on how you look at it. Reliability wise I would go with the VW, but looks and performance wise I'd go with the Audi. I'm not saying the Audi isn't reliable, truth be told I have no idea on that matter but reliability is one of those things VW is known for. Audi is a lot like Mercedes in that they use a bunch of extra stuff for no other reason than they can. It makes it cooler and I definitely like to looks of the Audi's so the S3 would be my personal choice if I were the one buying the car STRICTLY on looks. Again I don't know anything on the reliability so I can't speak on that.

Craig wroteTxby wroteThe S3 is more of a head turner, you can really tell the difference between one and a A3, where as the Golf/Scirocco models you'd need a badge to tell the difference, at least to an untrained eye.Craig wrote I mean, S3 all day long. I like the Scirocco's but I wouldn't buy one, I'd honestly rather a Golf.
So I'd make this out of the Golf R or S3, then it ould become a lot more tricky. If you're a tech guy I would get the S3 as it'll be fully loaded with almost everything you'd need, but then the Golf wouldn't be far behind. It really depends what you want from the car. But since you must have a lot of money behind you, as insurance will be about 3-4k per year.
I would weigh up the pro's and cons of both and some reviews of both.
But if it's out of the Scirocco or S3, the S3 all day long!
Thanks for the opinion bro! Would you be able to explain what makes you prefer the S3 over the VW?
Also, S3's interiors are nicer than Golfs, it's also a + for the inner badge snob most car people have.
What year S3/Scriocco you looking at?
I don't think i'll get new, I'm thinking 2015/16

Thanks bro! I do love the look of the S3 yet the scirroco, imo, is also very appealing. I have been told that VWs are extremely reliable but then again I don't know if I will have the car for more than 5 years

Still worry about reliability even if it's 5 years. With my job I rent a lot of cars and I had a brand new Jeep Cherokee with less than 1k miles blow up on me. I've had other issues with rentals too, but moral of the story is that new isn't always problem free.

Why not get a Fiesta ST? Fast, Sporty and they look great! Won't be as expensive on insurance and car payments as the ones you're suggesting
