I'm wondering if it's possible to upgrade parts in an old computer I have. It is an ACER Aspire AX3400 and has the following.
AMD Athlon II x2 215
4GB DDR3
1TB HDD
NVIDIDA GeForce 9200
I'm wondering is it possible to upgrade parts in this to make it ideal for games or would I just be better with a whole new system, and if I could upgrade it is it as easy as swapping the parts out for the new ones.

The hard drive is pretty much the only thing worth re-using. Maybe the RAM if you have a really tight budget, but only if you buy a used CPU+Mobo, as well as another 4GB DDR3(at least).
Pretty certain you won't be able to re-use the PSU, and it has a proprietary PSU so you won't be able to re-use the case with a new PSU AFAIK, so yeah you're looking at pretty much an entire new system ideally.

Alright dude just looking for an input, could you recommend me parts for a £500-600 budget, no keyboard and mouse or monitor needed. Don't need to overclock either.

What monitor(s) will you be using with the system?
What will you use the system for exactly?

I would use my iMac through the minidisplay port if possible, and mostly Forza and Fortnite. Would it be worth getting an external GPU as I have the most recent iMac with an i5 2.3GHz processor.

I wouldn't do an external GPU. I'd probably sell the iMac and use that money for a better monitor and a better PC.
