Used to be nice, like 100 rep was a lot, 1000 rep was unheard of. Now people with 200 posts has 5000 rep. I practically doubled my rep of about 600 earned from 5 years in 2 days.

Reputation is only a number. It has declined in the recent months but now members who haven't even been here a month have more than a 1,000 reputation. So, ultimately it means nothing on this site at the moment. I'm glad they added something to prevent auto-refreshers in the shoutbox and not allow people to gain 1,000 rep power overnight.
