what you using im not quite sure but i think there only compatible with certain sizes and brands im using a sandisk 500gb ext hdd but it limits it to 16gb

try using different usb ports on your xbox 360. in one hole, mine says not compatible but in the other its perfectly fine. please post back if it worked.

it says cant copy data to the device. make sure its not write protected?
