What are power nodes and what do they do ? please answer back cus i really am confused !

Ok. At the start of the game you hear a man talking and he says he needs help. You do a set of various tasks to help him by getting him power. Every time you help him, you get a node. people have yet to crack the easter egg, but they are getting close. People think there is something awesome waiting at the end of this.
