Is Jailbreaking an Iphone 3gs safe? Like If you download somthing can it but a virus on your device and steal your passwords and info?

If you stick to trusted Jialbreaks like GreenPois0n and RedSn0w, you should be fine, as most of the viruses out there can only run on Windows based computers.

The only risk in Jailbreaking is the tiny chance of you phone being bricked in the process, although I have never known this happen, there is always a chance.

Yes it is safe all you should do is back up Your iPhone then jailbreak and restore from backup
