Usually when you get the 3 rrod you may have nothing more than faulty sauldering. Many of the old model xboxes were rushes through factory to meet date deadlines so they didn't do good sauldering on many of the connection points which is why many old models rrod. Now this is a simple fix just re-sauldering your connection points and you could be fine (many people wrap their console in a towel which makes it so hot that it re connects the points for you). That is an okay idea but sometimes counter productive an can make it worse.

But if you ever do get it fixed make sure to get a fan for it and take it out of the case to minimize the heat on the console
