You scrambled the drives?
If the drives don't match, it simply won't read games whatsoever..
You need to make sure you have the correct dvd drive with the correct xbox for starters.

you have to clean the little red eye with some rubbing alcohol and a qtip

If that were the solution the problem would be different.. It would give the drive different errors, like loud rawring sounds and it wouldn't spin for that long..
It's a drive connection error, if your wasting all this time and energy into hot swapping you might as well just flash the drive.
