Installation

Just place dm_permanent.bsp in your Steam\steamapps\ [user dir]\half-life 2 deathmatch\hl2mp\maps folder.

Description

First of all, I need to say that this is *not* an original layout. Since this was my first map, I chose to copy DM-Permanent][, a map made by Frostblood for the original Unreal Tournament. (His map can be found at [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . if you're curious!) Permanent][ is a 2-4 person map with great flow and a classic fast-paced deathmatch feel, and I've tried to capture that in this version.

That said, everything was recreated by eye, and there are some slight embellishments. For a full post-mortem, check out my blog post at [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ! I owe my thanks to halfwit-2.com, interlopers.net, and developer.valvesoftware.com for their tutorials; to Valve and Epic for their games and tools; and of course Frostblood for the original map. Special thanks goes to Christian, Eric, Justin, Fishrokk, and rudy for their playtesting and/or mapping critiques, whichout which this map would be far worse than it is today.

The original DM-Permanent][ has been one of my favorite maps for almost a decade now, and I hope this reincarnation brings you some of the fun and simple joy that I've had in playing and creating it.
