Arsenal prepare 40M bid for Italian PSG midfielder Marco Veratti

Thoughts on this?

If I were Marco, I'd want to stay at PSG.

He's a quality player though so can understand why Wenger wants him. Not the physical midfield presence they've been looking for post-Vieira so perhaps not the best fit.

As much as I'd love to believe this source, trust me, having been an Arsenal fan for 15 years, any transfer rumours you here that aren't conclusive (i.e. come from Wenger himself) are always bollocks.

However, if we treat this hypothetically, I'd love Veratti in our side. Even though our midfield is a very congested part of the squad, if we could offload Wilshere onto a european team or something, and free up some space i think the little man would work wonders in the centre of the park.

A few years back, I never thought I'd hear an Arsenal fan wanting Wilshere offloaded, boy how times have changed. Verrati would be a significant upgrade on Wilshere though, I agree.

The main issue I have with Wilshere is that his attitude will always be a problem. Don't get me wrong I think he's one of England's most talented players, and can be world class on his day. But a few years back we were all aware of his poor attitude, but I guess saw it as something he'd grow out of. I'm not sure whether if its a certain bitterness over his lack of play time through injury or if its just fundamentally the way he is. But he's got to an age where its clear this will always be an underlying issue, and I feel it'd be best for us to just cash in and replace him with a hungry young talent - and player like Verrati would completely fit the bill imo.

I like Wilshere as a player but as a person he's an absolute ****. Been very inconsistent as well so I think it should be time for him to move on probably to a high mid table team (Liverpool?).

What's happened to that Gnabry or whatever he's called? played a few decent games for Arsenal and since then has just disappeared.

Danny Ings scoring again for Burnley, I actually love him

Veratti is quality, but I would've thought Arsenal needed a holding midfielder? Veratti goes forward a lot more than a holding midfielder would...

Maybe someone like Inler or Guarin? Both quality

Isnt Khedira out of contract this summer? Arsenal have been linked with him for like 3 years now. Wouldn't be surprised to see them try sign him as a holding/defensive midfielder

If I were to be offered Veratti or Khedira at this moment in time although logically Veratti, being the young and gifted player he is, you might go for him, I'd have to say I'd rather Khedira - even though he hasn't got too long left a career I'd imagine, he is exactly what we need right now.

Khedira at 27 can carry on for the next 5 years to be fair

Khedira would be the perfect signing for Arsenal right now. Big guy, gifted, physical, looks to be running out his contract.

If Arsenal could tempt him, would be a top top signing
