How? It happens all the time. A new contract doesn't guarantee that he'll stay for another four years, he'll just leave for a bigger fee.

How much do you want to bet that he doesn't leave in January?
Why would he have the option in his contract for the extension of another year if he wasn't planning to see them years out. He's seen what RM are about and he doesn't like them anymore.

By the sounds of it he is blaming Real Madrid, if RM really wanted him they could've got him the their reluctancy to actually offer a fair amount has probably put De Gea off.
