Release Date: May 19, 2015
Developers: CD Project RED Publishers: Warmer Brothers (US) Namco-Bandai (EU) Platforms: Xbox One, Playstation 4, PC. Genre: Open World Action RPG Players: 1 Rating: 9.5/10 Synopsis
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt concludes the story of the witcher Geralt of Rivia, whose story to date has been covered in the previous titles. Continuing from The Witcher 2, Geralt seeks to move on with his own life, embarking on a new and personal mission while the world order itself is coming to a change.
The game features several locations such as the free city of Novigrad, the swamps and battlefields of Velen, the Skellige Isles, and two of the Nilfgaardian Empire's recently conquered territories: the village of White Orchard, and the Royal Palace in Vizima. The witcher school Kaer Morhen, known in the novels and first The Witcher game, also appears. Gameplay
The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is about 30x larger than previous Witcher games, where players must find alternate routes to their destination such as by sea, and/or by horseback. However, fast traveling is available to only those locations previously discovered. The open world in TW3 is described as "20% larger than Skyrim". Actions the player chooses to do may affect the world, with many quests having an impact on the world with the various options and ways to complete them.
Combat revolved around an actions RPG system with use of magic. TW3 introduces some new mechanics, such as the ability to sense objectives, people, and resources near by. This is called "Witcher Sense". Along with this, you can also combat on horseback, swim underwater, and even use a crossbow. As a plus, Geralt can jump, climb, and vault over smaller objects. The climbing mechanics were describes as "Not quite Assassin's Creed, but more like Unchared". Like other games, potion brewing and crafting is still involved in the game. This game features dynamic AI and environments. The day and night cycle influences some of the monsters and their attack powers. This game also introduces dynamic beard growing. As you play, your characters beard will grow as you spend time in the world. Ciri, an exceptional sword fighter with magical powers from the Novels of The Witcher is a playable character. Gwent, an in-game collectible card game, replaces the dice games from the previous games. Graphics
The graphics in this game are a step up from previous Witcher games, but I think that the developers could have spent more time on graphics for consoles. For PC, the graphics look amazing. It looks as if you are actually in the world of The Witcher. One thing that is unique about this game, is that the world changes to the way you act in it. You can ride your horse through tall blades of grass, and the grass with move according to how you rode through it. There are rare amounts of gameplay where the graphics look better or worse.
Audio
The audio in TW3 is one of the better quality audios I've heard in a game for a while. With or without a headset, you can hear everything clearly and loud enough to understand what's going on without subtitles. The music fits the game perfectly, whether you're in combat, or if you're just wandering around in the world.
Controls
The controls for this game are easy to adapt to. and are easy to learn quick. Along with the tutorial that gives you a basic scheme of the controls of the game, you adapt real quick if you get into the game. The one thing that messes me up is the dodging part of the controls. It's hard to dodge and counterattack without a lot of practice. Anything else, the controls are perfect for the game.
Overall
Gameplay: 9.5/10
Graphics: 8/10 Audio: 10/10 Controls: 9.5/10 Overall: 9.25/10 |

The Witcher 3 is such an amazing game easily top 10 fav of all time, I feel like the Witcher series doesnt get enough credit and only now have people began to somewhat care about it. All in all I am glad to see more people playing the 3rd game!

I got this game for free when it was first released from a family friend that worked at NVIDIA. I know the graphics are insane, I feel kind of dumb not trying it out on my new PC, but I've never really played this game, just the first few minutes. After reading this great review, I think it's finally time to give it a try. The gameplay seems very fun and easy to get into, not to mention the controls are easy. Just gotta remember to get this game downloaded again. |

I really enjoyed this game.
I got it when the GOTY edition was very cheap and i was so happy i decided to pull the trigger on it. I think it is one of my most played games on Xbox i played it nonstop for a few weeks after i got it, im considering picking it up for PC at some point to experience the graphics on my new PC since looking at your screenshots they are worlds apart. I did the same thing with Skyrim and Fallout 4 which again were both highly played on Xbox and i enjoyed the playthroughs just as much even though i already knew the story line because of how awesome it looks. |
