After a suspected breach through malware/virus,
Is the best recovery I can do is scan with premium antivirus and malwarebytes?

I feel like there should be some deeper scans or something to check if files have been modified or viewed through an external source.

To be fair, thats all It should take to detect and remove and malware or viruses on your PC. Correct me if im wrong but those programs should detect if any tampering has went on, file wise.

You could also individually scan folders on those programs however, you may have already tried that.

What AV program are you using? Many programs these days have a deep cleaner integrated for threats which typical scans don't find.

For 'deeper' threats, I would 100% recommend:

ESET Rescue
