Unless you bought an OEM i5-7500 which comes without a stock cooler, no. If you didn't buy something like this;
amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N7P76RZ/?tag=pcp0f-21 listed as "Tray CPU" or "OEM CPU", then it will come with an included stock cooler that you can use. You could upgrade cooler if you want, but you don't "need" to buy one. I'd be inclined to ask why you bought an i5-7500 though, and when? It's technically 2 generations old now, on an old socket. You could have bought a newer CPU with more cores, and potentially saved money depending on how much you actually spent for the 7500. |

Ah, that's unfortunate. You can get an 8th gen i5, or Ryzen 5 CPU for the same or less than that, either of which would be a better option. It's not like the i5-7500 won't work, it just doesn't make a lot of sense. If you can return it or cancel the order, I'd probably try that. |

Storage is fine, keep that as is. The RAM is fine, you could maybe save a couple quid with a different kit.
I'd change the case if you can cancel the order, but if it's already been sent, returning it is probably more hassle than you're willing to deal with it, and the S340 will do the job. The NZXT H500 is the S340's replacement though, and is a better case for the same price so would have made more sense. Motherboard and CPU I would absolutely cancel/return, and get an i5-8400/8500 with a B360 motherboard, or Ryzen 5 1600(x)/2600(x) with a B350/B450 motherboard. PSU is a bit pricey and you could easily get a decent PSU for under 60 quid, but that's not a bad PSU you've ordered so you'd be fine holding on to that. I'd consider it a little overkill in this system, but it could easily last you several years/upgrades. GPU is waaayy too expensive. ebuyer.com/780067-zotac-geforce-g...eid=206719 Brand new GTX 1070 for £25 more. £275 for a GTX 1060 is just far too much. Especially considering it's an RX 580 competitor, and you can get an RX 580 for as little as £160 brand new, albeit a 4GB variant but you can get 8GB 580's under 200 quid easily. What monitor did you order, and how much was it? 1080p 144Hz monitors are still like £200 AFAIK, but you can get this for 230; amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07FCM5WX...&psc=1 1440p, 144Hz, VA panel |

The CPU and Mobo would be quite easy to return, so might be worth considering. You could get this instead;
CPU: Intel - Core i5-8400 2.8 GHz 6-Core Processor (£195.97 @ CCL Computers) Motherboard: ASRock - B360 Pro4 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£82.99 @ Amazon UK) Total: £278.96 which will give you 2 more cores. Or save some money and go Ryzen; PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor (£149.53 @ Aria PC) Motherboard: ASRock - B450 Pro4 ATX AM4 Motherboard (£81.33 @ Amazon UK) Total: £230.86 Again, 2 more cores than the i5-7500. The R5 2600 also has SMT so 6 cores,12 threads total. Either the R5 2600 or i5-8400 would actually be quite beneficial over the i5-7500 for playing games at 1080p 144Hz. Might not be so noticeable with a GTX 1060, but with a GTX 1070 it would be. Also with the i5-7500, you're only real upgrade option is an i7-7700/7700k without needing a new motherboard. The GPU will definitely be easy to return for a refund if you bought from Amazon, so I would 100% do that because you can add £25 to what you paid and grab yourself a GTX 1070 instead, which is a significantly better GPU. Alternatively, you could save around £100, potentially more by just getting an RX 580 instead of the over-priced GTX 1060. |
