If you have a normal xbox and want to upgrade for the performance boost and graphics then go for it.

if you play the normal Xbone on a 4k TV, you can see it trying to upscale and it doesn't look right.

if you upgrade to an X, games look miles better but you will really notice the difference when you go to a friends house on normal HD. it looks terrible if you go back

Asked myself this same question, went to bite the bullet and upgrade my original xbox one and I can tell you it is well worth it. The X runs pretty fast, load times are incredible, and the graphics are great.
