So, I'm trying to figure out prices and what I want to get. I'm from the U.S.. I have a 65" 4k tv that I plan to use as my monitor. As the title says this will be my first gaming PC. I've done some research and I think I understand the basics of what I'm trying to do. So first I'll put the link of what I was looking at for all the components that I'd need.

[Minimum post requirement for links]

Next is the link for the 4k prebuilt that I used as a starting point for pricing.

[Minimum post requirement for links] .

Here is the list of components that Im so far leaning towards.
Original list.
case -

darkflash phantom black ATX mid-tower

$199.99

cpu -

intel core i9-9900k

$539

motherboard -

ASRock Z390 phantom gaming 6 LGA 1151 (300 series)

$185.99

gpu -

GIGABYTE AORUS GeForce RTX 2080 8GB

$789.99

memory (ram) -

Corsair Very RGB pro (4x8GB) 32GB 3200MHz

$299.99

storage -

Crucial MX 1TB

$129

Power supply -

EVGA Supernova G2 750w

$103.09

So far before tax it's $2,248.04. I'm trying for a 4k capable gaming PC with the possibility of overclocking. My questions are, would this set up work? Would it be capable of what I'm looking for? Is there anything that is better than what was mentioned that is cheaper? Or what components Don't matter for what I'm trying to do that I could just find the cheapest ones of? Is there anything else that is absolutely needed? also with most of my starting knowledge coming from those two links and looking at the specs of the stuff, how would you say I did with choosing components?(last question is out of personal curiosity)

Update list -
+200 for the case I want cause the site didn't have it.

CPU: Intel - Core i9-9900K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor ($529.89 @ OutletPC)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master - MasterLiquid ML240L RGB 66.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($69.99 @ B&H)
Motherboard: Gigabyte - Z390 AORUS MASTER ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($284.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($289.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.89 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: EVGA - GeForce RTX 2080 8 GB Black Video Card ($698.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G2 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($59.99 @ B&H)
Total: $1993.73

And does anyone know the accuracy of pcpartpicker's Compatibility assessment?

Will the system just be used for gaming? If so, what games? If not, what else will the system be used for?

If you're using 65" TV, will you be using a controller to play games or wireless kb/mouse? Do you already have these or do you need to find peripherals as well?

Also, do you know the actual refresh rate of your TV? If not, the make and model so we can try help.

I'm assuming your budget is $2000-2250? If not, could you clarify your budget for us?

As for the systems you've listed, both are compatible- just the first one is missing a CPU cooler. However, you should definitely make some changes.

The 2nd system only has a 2TB HDD and no SSD. You're going to want an SSD. I'd grab a 500GB-1TB SSD, then whichever capacity HDD you require alongside it.

Is the EVGA PSU $60 or $100? For $60, it's a steal. If it's $100, it's a reasonable price but you'd be fine with something a bit cheaper.

The i9-9900k is probably entirely unnecessary though, and a huge waste of cash. We'll need to know what exactly the system is being used for, but I can almost guarantee you're better off going with a different CPU. Also, 32GB RAM is ridiculously unnecessary if you're just gaming, a huge waste of money there.

*Edit*
Also, I've never heard of that case before but it looks like this is it?;
amazon.com/darkFlash-Mid-Tower-Co...B07F1YSB9M

If so, don't buy that. It's massive, completely unnecessarily large, especially if you're using it as a casual gaming system with a TV- oversized is like the opposite you'd want then surely? That's also a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a case IMO. If you just like the look of that case, it's pretty generic so there's plenty of more reasonably priced, reasonably sized cases that look similar and will even likely be better quality tbh.

1. That is the case but apparently its cheaper on Amazon I saw it on Newegg. Also it doesn't matter the size of it, I just like that case. As far as what games I'll be running, bust to assume I'll be playing them all. Wether it's WoW, cod, battlefield, tomb raider, doom. If the game if able to run at 4k then I want my PC to be able to preform. Also I plan on starting to stream. But unless you can prove a CPU is better than the i9-9900k, the CPU is something that I don't plan on needing to upgrade for several years while other parts while get upgraded. Oh but the HDD instead of a SSD is my mistake, I meant to pick an SSD. And yes the PSU is $60. Um I would do 64gb of ram but that's too much money. But yeah, I would say you're correct on my budget. That's ideally where I would like to bet at, well before tax. The motherboard I actually have no idea if it's what I want. I think the gpu is what I'm want. I'm pretty set on the case and CPU tho it'd be hard to change my mind on those two. But. I want an SSD not the HDD. The tv I think is 60Hz at least that's the best I could figure out. Idk tho, it's a Samsung. I think I've covered everything.

Oh also the CPU I'm stuck on might change after CES

Right, like I said, you can get a case that looks the same(if not better) for a lower price, that is likely better quality. Tempered glass all over is a pretty generic look, so you don't need to buy an unnecessarily large, low quality case.

This is just one quick example;
amazon.com/dp/B01LA2LB7W/?tag=pcp...0&th=1
Lower price, and better quality. It's also still full sized ATX, but not over-sized. You could even save another $20 by getting it with the non RGB fan set-up.

It's probably best to figure out what the system will actually be used for before dropping 2 grand on it.

Game4life1 wrote But unless you can prove a CPU is better than the i9-9900k, the CPU is something that I don't plan on needing to upgrade for several years while other parts while get upgraded.
Did you not say that you wanted to cut costs where possible? CPU is the key area you'll be able to save costs- a 9900k is entirely unnecessary in this situation.

Game4life1 wrote Um I would do 64gb of ram

Why? If cutting costs isn't your main goal, can you clarify for us what it is you're looking for here then?

Game4life1 wrote I'm pretty set on the case and CPU tho it'd be hard to change my mind on those two.

Why? It's no sweat off my back what you end up buying, but they're both a huge waste of money and you asked for advice.

I'll probably switch between mouse and keyboard and controller. But what I'm saying is if it is a game, I'll be playing it, at least once. I try as many games as I can. Sure I really enjoy playing the triple A games. But I love trying random games to find those hidden gem games. I wasn't trying to be rude if it sounded that way. For example I have a Nintendo switch, an xbox one x, and a PS4 pro. I have a copy of Skyrim for all three systems just because each one has a slightly different feel to playing it. I have Mass effect Andromeda for ps and Xbox mostly cause I wanted the satisfaction of getting the Platinum trophy. Hopefully that explains that a bit more.

The case is more than just the looks, I like the fact that it comes with 6 fans in it. But on newegg it's also been dropped to only $130. But if you know of a case that's got 6 fans and full RGB that is cheaper I'd be happy to take a look at it.

The 2 things that I don't want to go cheaper on though, is the CPU and the motherboard to be honest, but I don't know anything about motherboards. I would like pretty top of the line for those as possible, because those are the 2 things I don't want to have to upgrade for a long, long time. But I don't want the ryzen cores that are currently out. Now I've got a bit before I buy everything. So is ryzen comes out with a new CPU that's better than the i9 and cheaper, then I will probably switch.

I would go cheaper actually on the gpu, cause I think I could get 2 cheaper ones than having one expensive one, maybe? I don't if I could get the same results tho. You said the power supply is already a steal so I guess I don't need to go cheaper there. I need a cheap SSD (perferably 1tb) cause apparently I had picked out a HDD on accident.

Also like I said I also plan to do streaming. Which I guess if you could recommend maybe a couple of cheap cameras and a cheap like podcast mic then that could be appreciated. I've got a mouse and keyboard picked out that are both pretty cheap.

And okay, if I took your advice and did 4x4gb ram sticks for 16gb of ram. Other than saving more money would there be any other benefit from doing so?

Did I forget anything this time?

You don't need 6 fans, and I'm not sure why you want that? There are plenty of cases that will support 6 fans though. The specific case you have chosen is ridiculously low quality, it's a total waste of money. The RGB implementation is also terrible. There are plenty of cheaper cases with nicer RGB implementation that are cheaper. The Corsair 460x that I linked, for example, ticks all the marks.

Game4life1 wrote The 2 things that I don't want to go cheaper on though, is the CPU and the motherboard to be honest, but I don't know anything about motherboards. Why though? Wasting money on a CPU you won't utilise now isn't going to save you any money in the long run, and you'd be far better off spending more money on GPU than CPU since you'll absolutely be replacing the GPU before CPU.

Game4life1 wrote Now I've got a bit before I buy everything. So is ryzen comes out with a new CPU that's better than the i9 and cheaper, then I will probably switch.

When will you be buying this system exactly?

Game4life1 wrote I would go cheaper actually on the gpu, cause I think I could get 2 cheaper ones than having one expensive one, maybe?

This is the exact opposite of what you should do. You could potentially add a 2nd GPU in the future and run SLI, but it's hardly worth running SLI these days unless you already have a top of the line GPU. Even then it's debatable tbh.

Game4life1 wrote You said the power supply is already a steal so I guess I don't need to go cheaper there. I need a cheap SSD (perferably 1tb) cause apparently I had picked out a HDD on accident.

$60 for the EVGA 750W G2 is a steal, yes. It's probably on sale, and might be including a rebate so I'd get it asap if you can get it that cheap. For SSD, Crucial BX500, MX300/MX500, and OCZ TR200 are good options that tend to be a little cheaper. Samsung 860 EVO will last longer, but will be a bit more expensive than the other options.

Game4life1 wrote 4x4gb ram sticks for 16gb of ram. Other than saving more money would there be any other benefit from doing so?

You're not going to utilise 32GB RAM so why spend $300 on RAM when it's completely unnecessary? You said yourself you wanted to cut costs? It's also easy to add RAM later anyway, so long as you don't fill all of your motherboard's DIMM slots(which using 4x4GB would fill all DIMM slots). You could get 2x8GB now, and then maybe add another 2x8GB in the future, maybe RAM will even be cheaper by then. So I'd recommend a 2x8GB kit over 4x4GB

As far as when I'm buying it, it'll be as soon as I get my tax refund. But with the government shut down i don't know when that'll be.

But that gives me time to tweak my stuff if I was able to buy it when I first started wanting a PC then I probably would have spent a lot more money than needed

But I was looking at prices and yeah it's cheaper to just do 2x8gb for ram than 4x4gb

The PSU is 79.99 with $20 mail in rebate.

I guess I'll go back to the gpu I originally had.

For me to switch my CPU, would the i7-9700k be better? Also what's the benefits of having a multithreaded cpu?

And for cases is it better for the glass to come off or if it is a door style?

I think you should make a post when you have the cash in hand and we can help with a parts list.

Game4life1 wrote But I was looking at prices and yeah it's cheaper to just do 2x8gb for ram than 4x4gb

Yeah, so just grab 2x8GB RAM for now unless you actually plan to do anything that would utilise/benefit from more than 16GB. Then you can still easily add more in the future if you really want.
Mail in rebates can be a hassle from what I hear but if you're willing to try see those through, I say go for it. $80 for the 750W G2 is still a good price tbh.

Game4life1 wrote For me to switch my CPU, would the i7-9700k be better? Also what's the benefits of having a multithreaded cpu?

An i7-9700k isn't going to be better than an i9-9900k, it is, however, a better option for you IMO. The only benefit with the 9900k is hyperthreading, and that's not a $100+ feature IMO. You absolutely won't benefit from it in games at 4k, and I doubt you'll really notice a huge difference with streaming. The 9700k is still over-priced IMO, but the 9900k is just obscene.

Game4life1 wrote And for cases is it better for the glass to come off or if it is a door style?

Doesn't really matter, as long as it's not a piss poor quality case. Tempered glass cases with hinges that open like doors are more expensive to make, so that's typically a feature you'll only see in higher end cases. If the tempered glass window is just held in place with 4 screws in the side, that's also fine as long as it's not a poor implementation by the manufacturer.

If you're determined to stick with Intel, I'd look at something like this;
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel - Core i7-9700K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor ($399.89 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! - Dark Rock Pro 4 50.5 CFM CPU Cooler ($82.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: Gigabyte - Z390 AORUS PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($185.01 @ Newegg)
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($142.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Samsung - 860 Evo 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($147.00 @ Walmart)
Video Card: EVGA - GeForce RTX 2080 8 GB Black Video Card ($698.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: Corsair - Crystal 460X RGB ATX Mid Tower Case ($132.00 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G2 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($79.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $1868.86

You could swap the 9700k for an i7-8700k if you wanted, you get hyperthreading with the 8700k but lose 2 cores. So, the 8700k is 6 cores/12 thread, and the 9700k is 8C/8T. You really aren't going to notice a difference between them in games, especially at 4k. The 8700k would perform better in multi-threaded situations and is a little cheaper so I'd honestly probably just take an 8700k.

You should keep in mind though, that if you were to go with an R5 2600 instead, you'd save more than $300 over a 9700k. You'll see similar, if not the same performance in games at 4k. Either of the i7's might perform a little better for streaming, but an R7 2700 would probably beat them all and can still be had for $200+ less than a 9700k when you take motherboard cost in to consideration. So yeah, I'd really think about whether you're going to notice that $200-300 difference.

Also, if you prefer the G.Skill RGB RAM, it's about $20 cheaper;
pcpartpicker.com/product/qjM323/g...16d-16gtzr
Although I used to have TridentZ RGB and swapped them for the Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro which I think look nicer.
