so when I was I think about 13 years old ish I remember my sister showing me Soul eater on Netflix and this is the anime that really sparked my interest I really enjoyed it a lot watched it all in about 2 days. I remember watching it so many times I rewatched that show about 11 times that year. Then I saw a show called Fairy Tail and man oh man this show I thought at the time was amazing this is another show that I watched the episodes on Netflix so many time. but I regret watching this show dubbed at the time because now I just can't watch it with the Japanese voices. Fairy tail really kicked up my interest and from there on i went on to shows like Death Note Tokyo Ghoul after that I really just stopped for about a year or 2 and re-watched those shows a bunch of times. Then I moved in with my cousin and all he did was watch anime all day but he only watched subbed anime and at the time he was watching Parasyte and it was really after that I stopped watching dubbed shows and started buying my own crunchyroll membership. and started watching more edgy shows like Mirai Nikki and Corpse Party and well from there on I just started watching anime pretty much every day.
i hope someone enjoyed my little story about how i got into anime i would also love to know what shows got you into watching anime? bye bye for now |

What got me into watching anime was the same thing as you I was on Netflix and saw a show called Naruto. I knew about this show from my friends in elementary school because they had the manga for it. They also had many other ones. So I was like okay I'll try it, it was in dub and I watched all of it in a 2 week span. Then I couldn't find Shippuden in English so I started in sub and got used to it. I took breaks from it and decided to watch soul eater, heavens lost property, ect... But it opened a door for me, it let me see other types of shows in a sad, happy, and frustrating way. So it has changed my life for the better, it showed me that I'm not alone and I could be that character. Just like video games you get so into wanting to be that person. |

Hmmmm... Ive been watching anime for awhile but I hadn't truly gotten into it until about 4 years ago. I was feeling kinda bummed out going into my senior year transferring to a different high school. I started watching slice of life anime to take me away from my life and put me into a different universe. I had seen Dragon Ball Z as a kid but what really got me into anime was when I watched Golden Time.
The slice of life portion of just following Tada's story was very relaxing to me. I also seemed to enjoy the romance in it when historically I wasn't much into watching romance shows/movies with actual people as actors. I then watched ToraDora shortly after that and then I was hooked on the romance anime genre. I remember binging the anime True Tears in one night that summer going into the fall. Saki recommended AgK to me and I remember going to football practice, coming home and watching AgK, falling asleep, and then going back to night practice just to come home to watch some more. It was really fun and made me just go on a roll of watching anime after anime after anime. Time passed and I didn't watch much anime as I hosted a foreign exchange student who took up a lot of my time. She was constantly with me and Im a bit of a closet weeb so I couldnt let her know I actually enjoy anime! I took a break from watching it but when she returned to Spain the following summer, I started watching it again. Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches, Masemune-kuns Revenge, and Zero no Tskuna or whatever were all shows that I binged in like, 1 month. I kept going and here we are a few years later. I've completed about 50+ romcom anime which amounts to about 30 days of just straight romance anime lol! Oh well, its a fun hobby and puts you in a world that isnt quite like ours! |
