I'm wondering if it's a good idea to trade in my sports car for something that'll save me gas and looks really lovely from inside out!
I'm getting married soon and I had my fun being in the 200mph club. I recently found out that the car is having some problems like 3 different leaks that require an engine removal and the removal of the transmission. So about a good 1200 dollar job in short. So the car is aging too. Some paint is coming off and also has rock impacts from just driving behind other cars. (Its a low to the ground car so the front bumper always takes debris. Its inevitable.) The gas prices lately have been killer, and due to the leaks I find myself putting 3-4 quarts of oil every month. Getting a new car would make a lot of sense up to this point, but I don't know what to get. The Jetta I found that I really love is going for 19,500 as of right now. As of the Camry I love is going for 27,000! Although the Camry has a lot of safety features, the inside of the car doesn't suit me for a 27,000 dollar car. And sitting in a 19,500 dollar Jetta with ambient lighting throughout the front and back of the car with a touch screen infotainment system WITH LEATHER SEATs is a hugggeeee difference from my bucks. Yeah it doesn't have too many safety features, but I think I am a safe driver in general. I'd like to hear what the community things about this. Be honest! Haha |

You've gotta go for a car that you feel most comfortable in! You're the one who's going to be driving it around, as long as you choose the one you're going to enjoy driving and not hate on then that's all that matters bro hope you choose the right one for you |

I think I already know what I really want. But wanting and being smart about something are two different areas. Idk how reliable Volkswagen is against a already known to be a reliable brand Toyota! |

This is going to sound weird coming from a guy who pretty much exclusively drives American diesel trucks but I love the Camry lol. It's so comfortable and easy to drive but you're right, they are WAY too expensive for what they are. I have no experience with the VW but I know older models were reliable. I know with the newer models they've had some scandals (mainly trying to cheat the EPA) but I don't know much about them.
As for safety, I don't really care about it much. The simple fact is that both cars are light years ahead of your Corvette safety wise. Price wise I would go with the VW. I love Toyota but they are too expensive and they are hard to work on yourself. It's not that it's hard to turn a wrench on them, it's hard in the sense that most of the parts have to come from the dealer. I don't know about VW repair wise, but I hate working on my grandpa's Prius. If you're looking in the $27k range have you checked out Subaru? They are pretty reliable and safe as well. |

Just due to the timing in my life of me getting married I need to live more efficiently and cant have these problems anymore. Thanks for your input! |

I admit I love the Camry, but definitely not a 27,000 dollar car feeling. I feel more luxury in a Jetta. As long as it can get me to point A and point B that I would love to be driving inside of I'm fine. I feel for some reason I wouldnt be at ease on the Toyota. Other than feeling safe driving it Haha. |
