This question has nothing to do with my CAD pc build mentioned in my other thread. I'm only asking this out of curiosity:

If i had a computer that ran Windows 7 pro 64 bit, had 32GB of DDR4 RAM, used an i78700k cpu and the card in the link below, what would happen if i were to purchase a 4k monitor and try to play Doom Eternal on all max settings.....IN 4K?

Could this GPU handle 4k max setting on Doom Eternal? And could it handle VR on other games?

Here's the link to the card in question:

I know there are much better build ideas out there, I'm just curious what would happen if I gamed in 4k with this build.

Depends if you wan't to run the game at 60FPS or not?

Don't get me wrong, the GTX 1070 is a good card and Doom 2016 was a very well optimised game. I would say Doom Eternal will also be well optimised however it is using a newer engine than previous Doom so I doubt you'll be maxing the game out at 4K with 60FPS.

If you turn settings down then you can expect the game to run smoothly.

Yeah, the game isn't out yet so no one is going to be able to tell you what kind of performance to expect.

With an 8700k and GTX 1070 @ 4K Ultra settings on Doom 2016 wouldn't hit 60FPS, it'd hover right around the 50's at best. You'd be able to get 60 FPS @ 4K on Doom 2016 with a mix of high-ultra settings though, so unless Doom Eternal is terribly optimised, I'd imagine 60FPS would be achievable with high settings, maybe some stuff turned down a little lower or higher.

If this is a gaming system though, I'd maybe consider 1440p 144Hz over 4k.
