So im currently rocking

Msi pro carbon z370
Aorus 1080ti extreme
I7 8700k
16gb trident 3600mhz (8gbx2)
Kracken x62 aio
650w powersupply (cant remember brand, 80+ gold mod tho)

Im wanting to change to a aorus board but currently having a hard time deciding which one to get,

Is there an advantage going z390 if im sticking with my 8700k?

Depending on z370 or z390 aorus boards which one is better for gaming and future proof for a decent overclock?

Thanks in advance

I think the only difference was that added 3.1 usb controller, built in, and there will be a bios update in the future to add 128gb of ram over the current 64gb.

Basically, if you have a z370, no reason to upgrade, however if you are shopping for a new mobo,
get the z390.

There isn't much difference if you're going to pair it with the 8700k but if you're in the market to buy the 9th gen series then definitely go for the z390 as the price difference isn't much with z370 and you are getting a mobo that's made with 9th gen in mind, However don't get me wrong the z370 would do fine too it just comes down to personal preference. If you're looking for a detailed comparison between z370 and z390 head over to [Minimum post requirement for links] it'll give you your edge on the deciding factor.

Nope, VRMs are different. Z390 AORUS boards are real good. Z370 were fine for the most part.

OP - If you already have a Z370 motherboard, why are you looking to 'upgrade' to another Z370, or a Z390 board?

Old post but thanks for response. Main aim was to pair my aorus 1080ti with an aorus board. Went with the aorus master z390 in the end and my god it is alot better than my previous z370 msi pro carbon.

Temps are better, amoung other things

Would be, it's a much higher end mobo lol, but yeah Z390 AORUS Master has a really beefy VRM set-up. Good thing you went Z390 over Z370 because the Z370 AORUS boards are really quite mediocre in comparison. I probably wouldn't have bothered spending all that money on a new motherboard with the same socket for the same CPU when the mobo you had was honestly already perfectly adequate.
