Hi guys, i am set to move out this summer and move in with my girlfriend and I have everything in place. I have no doubts about her or our relationship I just feel like I am going to miss my family a lot, especially my mum because we have such a close relationship. I'm not even 18 yet and im planning to get my one place (that's a fairly young age to live from home in the UK). I just know that when I leave I will miss my whole family and it upsets me just thinking about it.

Is it selfish of me to leave them?
Does anyone have any advice for coping with moving away?

Anything at all would be appreciated.

It isn't selfish to move out.
Your doing what's best for you and your missus which is your future life.
I get it is hard to leave your parents especially if your 17, but just make sure to always stay in contact with them. There always a phone call or train ride away Bro.
Family is family my brother. Blood never changes.
Need any help with anything, PM me I am always online bro.

Not selfish at all, you're going to eventually have to do it. I prefer sooner rather then later. Sure you'll miss them at first, but you can always visit and they're only a phone call away.

So I've been wanting to prepare myself to move out now. I'm only 17 and Now I'm saving every penny I can save up for two more years and move out. What other steps do you recommend for preparing to move out?

Moving out is always hard. Especially when you are used to seeing your parents all the time. I lived in Florida for a really long time, and when it came time to go to college, I picked a school all the way in New York and never looked back. Now it wasn't to spite my parents, I just liked what the school had to offer me and I ended up liking New York. It was super hard as I was used to having stuff my parents do for me now doing it myself. Family is your support line, I called my dad all the time, in between classes, on my lunch, in my dorm, and he was always there even tho he was working. Eventually it gets easier, you just need to find stuff to do to occupy your mind to keep from thinking of them constantly. However it isn't selfish, you have to move out eventually and even if they don't agree, they will learn to accept it.
Just make sure you call and let them know you love em

I moved in with my partner last year and it was the best thing I did. Yeah, I miss seeing my family daily but you'll love having your own space and doing what you want, when you want.

You feel much more free - just make time to visit your mum etc everything will be fine! Everyone moves out eventually and at different ages! Good luck man
