Hello I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice.
I'm 15 and a kitchen porter my workplace recently didn't want me in work for 4weeks which was weird at the time because I'd usually do 3-4 days a week, I was told that I need to learn where things are about in the kitchen when things are being called for the porters to get I struggle most the time cause I don't know where the food is in the fridge and freezer:/ it sucks as well cause there's no labels to what category the food is in both fridge and freezer(btw it's like a walk in fridge and freezer and it's kinda big) I was just wondering what sorts thing can I do better so I can walk straight in and grab the food the chefs want because most the time I struggle and be like "where is it" and my boss hates it:( |

Taze wrote Hello I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice. What I would do in your situation is ask your boss if you can come in one day when it's less busy. Bring a notebook with you and a pencil. Than I would suggest going into the walk in fridge/freezer and write yourself little notes on where each item is located and what they are used for. Just study your notes over and over again and eventually you will memorize where each item is and what their used for. I was once in a similar situation as you and asked the boss if I could write myself little notes and a map of where rah item is and they didn't have a problem with it. Your boss shouldn't have a problem with you taking notes. Most work places understand that some people are different than others and it takes them a different way to learn. |
