So here's what I'm working with

MB: ASRock 970M Pro3
CPU: AMD 8350-fx 8 core 4.0
RAM: 16GB
GPU: Geforce GTX 1060 3GB

So basically right now I can play everything on very high @ 1080p 50-60 fps.

I'd like to be able to push ultra for some specific games, but I'm not sure where to start when it comes to upgrading.

I guess my main question would be, is it worth it to get a newer GPU or are there other things I should be upgrading first?

I know the 8350 is an older CPU but I got this ASRock on a deal back in the day and it's the fastest (that I know of) CPU for the AM3+ chipset.

Any advice is appreciated.

What's your budget and what games are you trying to play on ultra? I'm guessing you play on a 60hz monitor so do you want to also upgrade your monitor for higher hz and/or resolution like 1440p? Also, what PSU are you using?

What is your budget and currency?
What monitor(s) are you using?
What exactly is the reason for this upgrade, what are you looking to achieve?
What do you use your system for? What games, and what else other than games?

Budget depends on the upgrades. Im expecting anywhere from 400-700.

Currently playing on 1080 @144hz. If i use my 1440 i can usually only push high res with this rig at most. But i do already have a 1440 monitor, if i wanted to use it. Its just currently being used on a different set up.

Im trying to play games like BF5, Witcher 3 on Ultra @60 fps 144hz. Sorry i shouldve specified.

And i dont know my exact PSU but ill post it when i get back home.

Sorry forgot about the format bud

What is your budget and currency? 400-700
What monitor(s) are you using? 24' 1080 @ 144hz
What exactly is the reason for this upgrade, what are you looking to achieve? Just want to push games at higher res and higher FPS
What do you use your system for? What games, and what else other than games? Battlefield 5, Insurgency, ARMA 3, Witcher 3 games like that. Other than that i just browse the internet and play ROMs.

What is your currency?

What is the make and model of your case, and PSU?
Also, what storage are you using?

Honestly, at this point it probably makes the most sense to sell what you have for however much you can get for it(probably £/$200ish) and just build a new system.

21 is correct. You would most likely update to a Ryzen CPU which is a AM4 chipset not a AM3+ chipset. That would mean a new motherboard and DDr4 RAM is required. On top of that you would want a new GPU to push for that higher res and hz you want. All of this would depend on your case size and how powerful and reliable your PSU is.
