The New York Police Department's Special Victims Division is investigating after a woman told police Thursday that Kristaps Porzingis raped her in his Manhattan apartment in 2018, law enforcement sources told Tina Moore of the New York Post. According to Moore's sources, the woman, who lived in the same building as the then-New York Knicks player, told police Porzingis attended her residence at 2 a.m. before inviting her back to his apartment afterward where he then raped her. The woman reportedly admitted to police she waited over a year to report the incident as Porzingis had promised to pay her $68,000 for her silence but later refused. A high-ranking source within the NYPD told Moore they consider the woman "believable." The incident is said to have taken place on Feb. 7, 2018 - a day after Porzingis tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee while playing in his last game for the Knicks. Porzingis' lawyer, Roland G. Riopelle, denied the allegations in a statement obtained by ESPN's Ian Begley. We are aware of the complaint that was made against Mr. Porzingis on Friday and unequivocally deny the allegations. We made a formal referral to federal law enforcement on December 20th, 2018, based on the accuser's extortionate demands. We also alerted the National Basketball Association months ago and they are aware of the ongoing investigation of the accuser by federal law enforcement. We cannot comment further on an ongoing federal investigation. Please refer any questions to the Federal Bureau of Investigations or the National Basketball Association. Porzingis spent three-and-a-half seasons in New York before being sent to the Dallas Mavericks earlier this year as part of a seven-player deal. League sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that the Knicks informed Mavericks executives of Porzingis' pending rape investigation during the trade call to finalize the deal. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban confirmed the organization was aware of the investigation but told Moore they "have been instructed by federal authorities not to comment." Source |

I feel like there is gunna be a big mess made of this, I personally feel like her recollection of what happened is wrong. I mean, first off, it sounds like he may have hurt himself pretty bad the day before, and to rape someone I'm sure it takes a lot to hold someone down. But who knows. Second, it can't have been to hard on her if her silence "could" have been bought with $68,000. $68,000 isn't shit to him more than likely, so even if it did happen he prolly wouldn't have any issue with paying it. But apparently she waited a year for it. Seems like a sketchy claim to me, but who am I to judge? |

boderlands23 wrote See all these women are accusing guys of rape just to get money like really you just now said something common I mean bro, alot of women out there have been sexually harassed or abused and are just scared to come out and say they've been a victim. There are some cases where women do it for money and have not been touched, but there are ALOT of cases where women are scared to come out and finally do and get shamed because the person has money. I just feel whether or not if the guy accused has money or not, their should be a fair investigation to see if the woman is actually a victim instead of getting shamed for falsely accusing before any type of investigation has been done. I think this is one of the huge reasons why some women are scared to come out, afraid people will not believe them or their will not be any action done. Now this situation right here is iffy as hell. |

Sure is a sketchy and confusing situation, tried reading up on it a bit but I hate reading about stuff like this, it just makes me sick.
If he's guilty, I sure hope he's not like some athletes and famous people who get a slap on the wrist or light sentencing. |
