Yo TTG, So for some time i've been thinking of switching from XB1 to PC. However i just haven't came round to it or had enough time to be thinking about a gaming PC. I'm just wondering how much you guys think i could get a PC that i can run games on at a decent quality and also broadcast/stream at a good quality. The main games i would be playing are Fortnite & Apex legends.

I'm UK based.

Any help would be really appreciated, Thanks

Why are you thinking about switching to PC? Are you looking for a higher quality and/or higher frame rate gameplay, or do you just want to play popular games with keyboard and mouse at 60hz while streaming? Would you need a keyboard, mouse, and monitor? The more money you put into it the higher the quality and the longer it will last.

We have no idea what your financial situation is like, so we can't really dictate a budget for you. Fortnite and Apex aren't exactly the most demanding games though.

At a minimum, I would say you'd need 200 quid, but that's only really going to get you an entry level system if you buy used parts.

Was looking to pay between £300-£500. Would i be able to build one that runs apex at a good quality and also streams at a good quality on that budget?

Do you need a monitor within budget?
If not, what monitor(s) are you using or what is the budget for monitor(s)?
Do you need a kb+mouse, any other peripherals?
Any preferences for parts/aesthetics?

The transition from Xbox to PC will be quite tricky are you sure you want to get into that. No aim assist and typically a lot better players in general. Is streaming a big requirement for you when playing or just something optional?

Yeah i'll be needing a monitor & a KB w Mouse.
I can up my budget a little if needed however i don't really want to be spending any more than £500 on one! I don't have a any specific parts in mind i'm just wanting a half decent PC that will run games like apex & fortnite and also broadcast in good quality.

To the guy below, Yeah streaming is a big part of it for me. If i couldn't switch and stream then i'd literally just stick to xbox lol.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 3 1200 3.1 GHz Quad-Core Processor (£61.64 @ CCL Computers)
Motherboard: ASRock - B450M PRO4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (£68.97 @ CCL Computers)
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory (£39.18 @ Aria PC)
Storage: Crucial - MX500 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£53.98 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card: XFX - Radeon RX 570 8 GB Video Card (£129.45 @ Amazon UK)
Case: Cooler Master - MasterBox Q300L MicroATX Mini Tower Case (£39.98 @ Novatech)
Power Supply: Corsair - CXM (2015) 450 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply (£48.48 @ Amazon UK)
Monitor: BenQ - GW2270 21.5" 1920x1080 60 Hz Monitor (£70.51 @ Box Limited)
Total: £512.19

Buy any £20-30 kb+mouse combo off Amazon for now. Add an HDD when you have some more cash if you need/want more storage. You'll also probably want to add another 8GB RAM at some point. If you're comfortable buying a used GPU, you could get an RX 580 and save £50. Alternatively, the GTX 1650 and maybe 1650Ti are supposed to be out soon, rumours were end of this month announcement I think.

Also worth noting that we should be hearing more about AMD's Navi GPUs and Zen2 CPUs within the month.
