Not the best with this sort of thing, but I wanted to post what I'm looking at for a new build. I'm in need of a build that can handle the strain of multi-tasking between several different projects such as Affinity Designer, Microsoft Visual Code, multiple tabs in my browser and various other Graphic Design programs. On top of this, I also want to be able to game (Fortnite, Apex Legends, upcoming Halo releases such as MCC and Infinite, etc). Have a pretty decent build currently, but I'll be giving it to my sister instead, as she's in need of a new PC.
So, here's what I managed to conjure up:
Don't care about a DVD drive, W-Fi (running Ethernet), already have two SSDs. Thanks ahead of time, would appreciate some clarification and feedback (cause again, I'm as dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to PC parts). |

I'd definitely be making some changes to those parts.
First though, what SSDs are you re-using? Make/model/capacity? Also, do you want to re-use your 1080p144Hz monitor or would you like to use some of that $1800 budget for a nice new monitor? If so, any monitor preferences? |

I'm alright with reusing it, but again, am open to suggestions, what would you all suggest if I were to look at other monitors? I'd like a dual setup if that's at all possible, if I go a bit over my budget it isn't a big deal. Thanks for ya'lls help thus far! |

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 7 2700 3.2 GHz 8-Core Processor Ryzen 7 1800X is two years old now and the Ryzen 7 2700 is the same price but is not overclock-able. If you plan on overclocking, I would suggest going with the 2700X version of the CPU. Cooler: be quiet! - Dark Rock 4 CPU Cooler I don't like AIO Liquid Coolers around $60. IMO they are not worth it so I went with the popular be quiet cooler. The Ryzen 7 2700 does come with a stock cooler but the be quiet cooler would be quieter. If you decide to overclock the CPU and go with the 2700X, you would need the one I selected as the 2700X doesn't come with a stock cooler. Motherboard: Asus - ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING ATX AM4 The board you selected is an overpriced board and is also 2 years old. RAM: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory 32GB may be a bit overkill but I thought I should add it. It won't hurt to have more RAM plus its cheap right now. I went with the 4x8 rather than the 2x16 because it was cheaper, and it will fill all four DIMM slots on the motherboard; making it look cleaner. GPU: Gigabyte - GeForce RTX 2070 8 GB WINDFORCE I went with the RTX 2070 because you had the money plus, I added a 1440p 144hz monitor and the RTX 2060 will struggle to hit 144fps on high settings if you go with that monitor. (Depending on the game.) If you don't buy the monitor, the RTX 2060 6GB is a great card for your money. Those SSD's are fine. I just added a 2TB hard drive for more storage. |
