Haven't played Pokmon in years. Same here I have not played since I think I was 9? I lost track it was on GBA. And Gameboy. When they had the cool designs for Pokemon. |

Maze wrote I'm pretty disappointed we didn't get news on Shield and Sword, but I guess it makes sense that they would wait to reveal more about the game closer to E3. I can't wait to see what is done with the series and what will be implemented now that it's on Switch. If/when you get Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee, keep your expectations on the lower side and don't jump in thinking it's going to be a mainline Pokemon game. If you jump in trying to expect it to play exactly like the original games, you're honestly going to only have complaints about it. It is 100% a mix of Pokemon Go and the mainline. The gym leaders from Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, FireRed and LeafGreen are all still there. 8 gyms, Elite Four is still there and the general exploration is the exact same as the previous games. HOWEVER there is NO wild Pokemon battles (except legendary battles,) only trainer battles. You will have to catch Pokemon for level ups and when you get further into the game, you can transfer Pokemon from Pokemon Go if you have a high CP Pokemon there, you can throw it into Let's Go to basically steam roll the game. Now you can't transfer back to Pokemon Go, so it's a permanent thing. The mechanic they put in for wild Pokemon was so nice and I wish it would have been brought over to Pokemon Sword and Shield but it's been left behind -- and that mechanic is that you see all wild Pokemon in the overworld so you run into them to start the battle. Tired of bumping into Zubats only in the mainline, no problem over here, you can simply walk around them and you don't have to battle them again at all. I seriously wish that would return as it's a nice feature for farming a certain Pokemon and shiny hunting, plus it saves unnecessary wasted time encountering random Pokemon. I would also advise you get a Switch around late Summer/early Autumn. Switches were sold out in a lot of places when Smash Ultimate was coming out and if Nintendo has a big title or a few titles during E3 that are coming out during the holidays, it would save you the hassle of trying to get on during the holidays. |

Haven't played Pokmon in years. There's a broad spectrum of fans of the Pokemon series now, the games are actually extremely technical when it comes to stats and farming. I honestly recommend playing the Nintendo DS titles if you're running from nostalgia, games such as Pearl/Diamond/Platinum, Soul Silver/Heart Gold are extremely good and cover a majority of the bases of Pokemon that you will have missed. |

Haven't played Pokmon in years. Adding onto this really quickly unless you want to grow old waiting on certain mechanics; If you're going to play Gen 4, jump onto Platinum and just skip Diamond and Pearl. HP bars had a set speed before they wore out, meaning if you went against a Chansey or a Blissey, a OHKO you would be sitting there for 20+ seconds for one Pokemon. Also save times are horrendous and stupid random when you get the "saving a lot of data" message. Your save could take 45 seconds, could take 3 minutes, could be longer, and guess what, you might have just walked a few steps and picked a berry but nah "you did a lot in order to have data saved." And I do mean it's random, you can legit walk a few steps and pick a berry and it'll say saving a lot of data, but you can catch 20 Pokemon, defeat a gym leader and it'll just say "saving" that takes 10 seconds. |

I always thought HP bar speed is the same across all three versions, but Platinum introduced faster walking, surfing and battle animations because they were incredibly slow in D/P. But yeah I agree go with Platinum for a more enjoyable experience. |

Haven't played Pokmon in years. Platinum sped up the HP bar, but not by much. You would probably shave off a few seconds, but I can't begin to tell you how much of a drag Diamond/Pearl was due to the horrendous time wasters in that game lol That's why I said just jump onto Platinum because any time saved on Gen 4 is better than getting annoyed with how much things seem like a chore due to just un-optimsed times to get things done. I don't recall if SS/HG fixed those at all for the HP bar though. I didn't spend nearly as much time on those games as I did Sinnoh. I also completely forget about the damn surf speed because holy hell that was annoying, another reason to just jump to Platinum since because I remember that making me not even want to bother surfing around for any Pokemon I may have needed, let alone shiny hunting. |

Haven't played Pokmon in years. Pokemon Soul Silver was great too. Only prob is if you wanna replay some old Pokegames your looking at paying solid 80$ for a used game. Was researching Pokemon Soul Silver last night for example 80$ just for decent used. Up to 100$ or more for brand new. |
