Ok so I put the car in gear and it doesn't move at all. I can lift the clutch up while in gear and the car doesn't stall or anything, clutch never slipped before this happened or anything so I highly doubt it's a clutch problem. Also the gearbox felt solid so I also highly doubt it's a gearbox problem, I've been told possibly either driveshaft or outer CV joint? As the drivers side driveshaft spins while the cars in gear and the clutch is out...
Any help would be really appreciated, hopefully there's someone more mechanically minded than me out there somewhere to point me in the right direction |

Id lead towards a clutch related issue, i know you said the driveshaft moves, but if it was a dif or something it would have been something you could hear dying... not a snap one day |

JDM wrote Id lead towards a clutch related issue, i know you said the driveshaft moves, but if it was a dif or something it would have been something you could hear dying... not a snap one dayI did actually notice vibration coming from under the car when putting my foot down. Also the car went the a clunk when I reversed off my drive, coming from the drivers side. That's when I put it into 1st from reverse and noticed none of the gears were working. If it was the clutch then surely it would of let of signs before it went? There was no slipping at all and the biting point was right at the bottom so I see literally no reason for it to be the clutch, but yeah I'm not a mechanic. Thanks for the reply though, I'll defo have to have a look into it |

From a mechanics point of view your clutch has gone mate or the slave cylinder. New clutch it is |

You've probably solved this by now lol, but it sounds like a worn clutch plate to me |

When my 1.9 TDI was doing this we swapped out the slave and master cylinder, ended up replacing the dreaded dual mass flywheel and clutch kit |
