I landed the job solely by the fact my portfolio was "outstanding" and "very creative" as well as "different". The only reason I no longer work there was because my designs where going to waste, I was stuck doing things that could literally be done in PowerPoint, not to mention no skill in coding. The thing is most designing companies are the same. Whereas photo edits are more wanted (weddings, funerals amongst other special occasions) it is also a very saturated market for that. My advice; contact someone willing to build a portfolio throughout the years and stay committed. You could also start your own business from this.
