Was looking into buying a PC solely for gaming. Always gamed on console and I don't know jack shit about building a PC.
I've always heard don't buy a pre built so after some searching, I found PowerGpu on twitter and he charges $150 to build. With all that being said, how good of a PC can be built for $1500? I would like to mod the hell out of Minecraft and Emulate GameCube and DS games Would also like to mod GTA 4 and 5 but if not it's not deal breaker |

This is the build I just did, motherboard price is glitched but it'll come out slightly over a grand, but this build will do everything you'd like, plus more
(Wireless network adapter included on list, but that's optional, I only grabbed it until I can run my ethernet, but if you don't have a wired option, this is a good adapter) PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($146.40 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition 42 CFM CPU Cooler ($39.99 @ Amazon) Thermal Compound: ARCTIC MX-4 2019 Edition 4 g Thermal Paste ($7.17 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX X470-F Gaming ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($69.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 250 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($69.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8 GB SC ULTRA GAMING Video Card ($409.99 @ Amazon) Case: Phanteks ECLIPSE P350X ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.99 @ Amazon) Power Supply: EVGA 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply Wireless Network Adapter: Asus PCE-AC55BT B1 PCIe x1 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Adapter ($34.99 @ Amazon) Case Fan: Corsair ML120 75 CFM 120 mm Fans ($31.41 @ Amazon) Case Fan: Corsair ML120 75 CFM 120 mm Fans ($31.41 @ Amazon) Total: $911.33 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-09-08 11:08 EDT-0400 |

Below is a decent build and leaves you some additional money to get peripherals (likely monitor, mouse and keyboard).
You will want to install Windows 10 yourself and just buy a key online for like 1/10th the price that Microsoft charges. (/r/microsoftsoftwareswap) PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7 GHz 8-Core Processor ($219.99 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock 4 CPU Cooler ($74.90 @ Amazon) Motherboard: ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($64.89 @ OutletPC) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($65.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($109.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Hitachi Ultrastar 7K3000 3 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($54.88 @ Amazon) Video Card: MSI GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB VENTUS OC Video Card ($509.99 @ Amazon) Case: Phanteks Eclipse P400 ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: SeaSonic 650 W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply ($96.90 @ Newegg) Total: $1267.52 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-09-16 08:17 EDT-0400 |

I would just build the system myself, but you should easily be able to find a local store that will put together a system for you for less than $100. There's no reason to charge $150 for putting a PC together.
Then for a system around $1400, I'd be looking at something like this; PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700 3.2 GHz 8-Core Processor ($179.89 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard ($114.95 @ Amazon) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($65.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Intel 660p Series 1.02 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($94.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB WINDFORCE OC 3X Video Card ($499.99 @ Amazon) Case: Cooler Master MasterBox NR600 (w/o ODD) ATX Mid Tower Case ($75.98 @ Newegg) Power Supply: XFX XTR 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($89.98 @ SuperBiiz) Monitor: LG 27UD58-B 27.0" 3840x2160 60 Hz Monitor ($289.00 @ Amazon) Total: $1410.77 You can spend an extra $20 for an R7 2700x over the 2700 if you want, or save $50 and just grab an R5 2600. Also, you could go for a nice 1440p144Hz monitor instead of 4k60Hz if you wanted, since there are a couple of good 1440p144Hz options in the $300-350 price range. |
