I recently came into some money, looking to build a pc, I intend on using the pc with schoolwork (3d models) and gaming. I would like to be able to play 4k ultra 60fps on AAA games. My budget is about 4000-4500, and im buying parts in the great US of A. I already have a build set kinda. It has literally everything I would need for PC gaming (desk monitor, mouse pad, etc) so don't be afraid to critique those as well as the PC parts

I would get more SSD storage instead of the HDD storage

A few key points to raise:

  • You should definitely be getting an NVME drive when you are dropping $4,000+ on a new build.
  • 3rd party thermal paste is a waste of money.
  • 6TB of HDD storage seems a bit overkill. I would go for one of the 3TB HDDs and buy a large capacity SSD.
  • The SSD you've chosen is quite low capacity.
  • Bitdefender is pointless to buy. Use a free antivirus like Avast.
  • You can get cheaper versions of Windows 10 online.
  • Depending on what games you intend to play, it may be better to get a 1440p@144Hz monitor. Personally, I think 1440p@144Hz is better than 4K@60Hz. I'd also look into getting two monitors as well. Productivity is much better with two monitors (I use 3 myself)
  • Considering you plan to use this for working on too, I would recommend getting a different keyboard; linear switches (reds) just aren't as nice as tactile (browns/blues) in my opinion.
  • The wrist rest seems inessential considering most keyboards come with their own wrist rest anyway. You could still consider buying a wrist rest for your mouse but it's not necessary.

The parts list above will be better for you. Primarily in that you should be getting a decent sized SSD. (Cheaper atm to just get a bigger Intel 660p than it is buying two separate SSDs)
You can install Windows 10 directly from the Microsoft website. You can then get yourself a key from various online places; personally I buy my Windows 10 keys from /r/microsoftsoftwareswap and haven't had any issues after ~8 or so purchases.

You still have ~$1,500 to spend on peripherals. If you want recommendations for those, let me know.

Me personally, I'm a big fan of ARMA and MMORPGs so I'd knock the keyboard for one with macro keys.

NZXT Kraken, I'd swap tat out with just about anything. I don't deny they aren't bad AIOs but the software from my time with it....Abysmal.
When it comes to the GPU, I think you over paid a lot. Hell my 2080 Ti came with a waterblock and cost me 1349..
Incorrect word, headset and headphones are different, don't let the "GAMING!" marketing fool you. Get a dedicated mic it'll improve your quality overall. BUT not a bad headset.
Mouse, headnod.gif. Nice.
I would've opted for a lot more SSD storage then HDD. 1TB SSDs ARE cheaper these days.
I would not have gotten a 4k Monitor without it being bigger than 32". But my eyes are pretty bad when it comes to light sensitivity, so it's subjective. Bigger the monitor, easier to look at in my opinion.

If you're spending money just for the sake of spending it, then I'd be looking at something like this;
PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor ($499.99 @ Best Buy)
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X62 Rev 2 98.17 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($140.89 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming ATX AM4 Motherboard ($299.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($162.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Intel 660p Series 1.02 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($94.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Seagate IronWolf NAS 6 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($139.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11 GB SEA HAWK X Video Card ($1134.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Phanteks Eclipse P400 Digital ATX Mid Tower Case ($98.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair RMx (2018) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($85.99 @ Amazon)
Monitor: MSI Optix MPG341CQR 34.0" 3440x1440 144 Hz Monitor ($752.99 @ B&H)
Total: $3411.79

Obviously you could swap the R9 3900x for an i9-9900k, but why would you?

$1500 for a 2080Ti makes no sense, especially since you can get a watercooled one for <$1150.

Thermal paste is not necessary since it will come pre-applied on your cooler, but spare thermal paste is never a bad thing to be fair. Keyboard you have is fine, and mouse is up to you. Ditch the anti-virus crap and don't pay $140 for Win10. HyperX Cloud 2 are fine, but I'd get a stand alone microphone if necessary(or mod mic) and a decent pair of headphones for a couple hundred bucks.

You can get a 4k120Hz monitor instead of the 3440x1440 144Hz if you don't like ultrawide;
amazon.com/dp/B07LCDTRN4/?tag=pcpapi-20
The Freesync version is usually $100 cheaper than this, and would be worth the saving IMO. However, it is currently the same price so obviously get the G-Sync model if it's the same price anyway. If you can get the Freesync model for $700-800 though, I'd get that instead since you can use Freesync with NVidia GPU's now anyway.

For the desk, I'd be going to Ikea. Buy a nice sturdy big table/counter top, and some drawers to put the top on. You'll get something bigger/better, that you like and built yourself- plus it shouldn't cost too much unless you get fancy wit it and go with like a big ol' granite or solid wood table top or something.
